About Michael
With over 35 years of experience in financial markets and investment strategy, Michael Portincaso brings a unique combination of institutional expertise and client-first service to his role as an independent financial advisor. He began his career on the floor of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange in 1989, eventually overseeing all of Lehman Brothers’ trading operations in Chicago before the firm’s collapse in 2008. Today, he leverages that deep industry knowledge to serve the people who need it most: educators, university staff, and public service employees.Â
Michael joined Encompass More in 2022 with a mission to simplify retirement planning for professionals who often lack the time, tools, and guidance to navigate complex benefit structures. Whether working with K–12 teachers, professors, or hospital staff, he takes a highly personalized, educational approach to help clients understand their pensions, 403(b) plans, and retirement income strategies.Â
His qualifications include a Series 65 license, a life and health insurance license, and experience in both the CME and the Chicago Board of Trade. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Sociology from Northern Illinois University and understands how interest rate trends can impact markets and long-term financial planning.Â
Clients working with Michael can expect sincerity, thoroughness, and a commitment to clarity. He doesn’t believe in one-size-fits-all strategies. Instead, he invests the time to understand each client’s goals and tailors solutions that support confidence and long-term success.Â
Outside of his advisory work, Michael spends weekends in Door County, Wisconsin, where he continues a family tradition of professional-level fishing. Inspired by his father—a teacher and semi-professional fisherman—Michael now mentors others who want to learn the craft. Whether it’s guiding someone through their financial future or teaching them to fish like the pros, Michael’s core purpose remains the same: to educate, empower, and make a lasting impact.Â
